Taking good care of your car is the same way as taking care of your health. Even though it is essential to take your vehicle in a shop for regular maintenance, it is vital to develop some habits to keep your car at its top shape. So, what are these car maintenances tips? Well, here is a list for you.

Check On the Fluids

To ensure that your car fluids such as power steering fluid, motor oil, etc. are good  is one of the best ways to maintain your vehicle performance. If you don’t know how to check, you can refer to a manufacturer’s manual, use the obd2 scan tool or ask your mechanic how to do it.  Fluids are like the blood of a vehicle, so checking them will save you cash.

Wax Your Car

It is important to wax your car regularly so that you can protect your car paint job. You will be slowing oxidation as well as creating a barrier against pollution. It will make your vehicle look amazing by adding extra shine.

Check Tire Pressure

One thing that you need to know is that tires lose pressure daily, and the right pressure is vital for your vehicle. The correct pressure of the tire will minimize the risk of experiencing premature wear of the tire or blowouts. You will also drive smoothly.

To make sure that your tires are okay, you should check the pressure at least once in a month and add when necessary. You can refer to the manufacturer’s manual or check for a placard on the driver’s door to know the correct pressure. Always avoid over-inflating and under-inflating your tires.

Check Air Filter

Many vehicle issues are because of clogged air filters or loose fittings. The leading role of the air filter is preventing particles, and dirt’s from getting into the engine. During combustion, your vehicle’s engine requires air, and when the air filter is clogged, it affects performance.

It is essential to get the filters changed annually or after 12000 miles. You must not ignore this maintenance as it can cause problems to your vehicle engine.

You can either change the filter of your car or take it to a professional mechanic. But if you want to save some cash, you can do it yourself.

Check Battery

Imagine you are in a situation where your vehicle has just stopped working. You check everything, and there is nothing wrong with your car. What would you do? To avoid such a situation, make it your habit to always check on your battery.

But if you get yourself in such a situation, start by checking the cables and terminal connections. Look for any leakage around the terminals and cables. You can use a brush to clean the terminals and apply dielectric grease to avoid friction.

To check the battery charge, use a multimeter, but your engine should be off. The voltage should be around 13.7 to 14.7 volts.

Maintaining and diagnosing your vehicle using tools such as the obd2 scan tool may seem costly, but that’s not the case. It is a good idea for your wallet and peace of mind. Remember, a well-maintained vehicle is safe for everyone.
